WELCOME TO ALDWORTH SCHOOL

At Aldworth we have high expectations of our students and this is reflected in their progress, aspirations and conduct around the school. In this year's summer examinations 82% of our Year 11 students achieved  grades 9-4 (Grade C or better) in English and/or Maths in August 2019. The number of students achieving grades 9-4 in English is 78% and in Maths is 66%. The combined figure for grades 9-4 in English and Maths is 63%. Congratulations to all of our students who collected their results on Thursday, we are all very proud of you.

Our vision is to be a vibrant learning community with an ethos of ambition and achievement. With almost 1,000 students on roll we are able to offer a full and broad curriculum and we are fully staffed in every subject area. We received a visit from OFSTED in June 2019 and inspectors mentioned, in support of our work:  "Pupils are prepared for their next steps in education. They receive appropriate advice and guidance that helps prepare them to make positive decisions about their futures. Middle leadership has been strengthened, middle leaders have effective plans in place to drive improvements. Pupils said they feel safe and well cared for, they understand how to keep themselves safe. The curriculum is broad and balanced; leaders consider pupils’ needs and aspirations when deciding on provision."  You are welcome to view our OFSTED report, which is available on this website. We aim to prepare our students academically so they are ready to take the ‘next step’ into college. We also support each young person to enable him or her to develop personally in preparation for adult life.

We have a collaborative approach to developing teaching and learning. Teachers plan lessons centred on ‘exploratory' questions with the ambition to:

  • Provide a positive climate for learning
  • Develop powerful learners
  • Deliver adaptive and responsive teaching
  • Encourage high challenge

This is a having a really positive impact on learning and all of our staff share this commitment.

The expectations we have for our young people are summed up in 3 short statements: RESPECT yourself and others, ENDEAVOUR to do your best and ACHIEVE your full potential. As a growing school we recognise each student as a unique individual and never lose sight of our ethos and values. If you would like to know more about these please click here.

Aldworth is a successful school and we are a popular choice with parents. We have seen our numbers on roll grow from 500 to just under 1,000 in the last few years. In the last couple of years we have completed a £2.5 million external refurbishment programme on two of our buildings and were able to refurbish them internally as well.  We are proud of our really impressive site which provides superb facilities for our young people and we are committed to investing in their futures. If you would like to find out more about us, please take a few moments to explore the rest of our website.

We were oversubscribed for places in Year 7 for September 2016, 2017 and 2018 entry and have admitted students above our published admission number to accommodate parental preferences. If you wish to discuss any aspect of the admissions process, for any year group, please do not hesitate to contact us via telephone or email. We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students into school in September. We are also looking forward to our open evening, open morning and school tours for entry into the school in September 2020. If you are looking for an 'in year' place for a child in Year 7-10, then please do get in touch as we have the capacity to exceed our existing allocation. We are more than happy to arrange a tour of the school for you and discuss this further informally.
