    Year 7 Product Design: Manufacturing - Steady hand game

     This project introduces students to product design manufacturing by making a steady hand game.

    Design and Make task

    During this project students will make a steady hand game using a variety of skills and materials.

    Learning Objectives:

    In this project you will learn:

    • You will learn how to create a range of ideas and select one to make
    • Communicate your ideas to others
    • How to produce a quality product that works
    • Select and work with a range of suitable materials based on their properties
    • Understand what a simple circuit is and how it works
    • Use the tools and machines in the workshop safely
    • Evaluate your product

    Year 8  Product Design: Manufacturing - Clock

    Design and Make task

    During this project students will design and make a clock using 2D design and the laser cutter.

    Learning Objectives:

    Identify a user for your product and design it to meet their needs

    • Use primary research to inform your designing
    • Generate your ideas using CAD
    • Develop your product taking into account a wide range of constraints including time, material properties and method of manufacture
    • Select and work with a range of suitable materials based on their properties
    • How to produce a quality product using CAM
    • Evaluate your product

    Year 9 Product Design: Manufacturing – Light activated night light

    Design and make task

    During this project students will design and make a light activated night light using 2D design and the laser cutter as well as soldering their own circuit.

    Learning Objectives:

    In this project you will learn how to:

    • Create a brief for your project
    • Gather and use research to create clear detailed design criteria
    • Develop & use detailed design criteria to help make decisions about your designing
    • Develop your ideas through mock-ups
    • Use sensors & control components in electronic circuits
    • Consider the impact of design & technology in the wider world
    • How to produce a quality product that works
    • Select and work with a range of suitable materials based on their properties
    • Use your design criteria and the views of others to help evaluate your product.
