Dear Parents / Carers,
Welcome to our school website. At Aldworth we have high expectations of our students and this is reflected in their progress, aspirations and conduct around the school. Having analysed all reports to parents during 2014-2015 we can confirm the vast majority of our students have been judged, by their subject teachers, as either having outstanding or good attitudes to learning.
Our school is a vibrant learning community with an ethos of ambition and achievement. We were judged as good in all categories by OFSTED in February 2013 and you are welcome to view our OFSTED report, which is available on this website. We aim to prepare our students academically so they are ready to take the ‘next step’ into college. We also support each young person to enable him or her to develop personally in preparation for adult life.
The expectations we have for our young people are summed up in 3 short statements: RESPECT yourself and others, ENDEAVOUR to do your best and ACHIEVE your full potential. If you would like to know more about our ethos please click here.
Aldworth is a successful school and we are a popular choice with parents. We have seen our number on roll grow from 500 to well over 900 in the last few years. We recently completed a £1.5 million external refurbishment programme on our largest building and have secured a further £1 million to refurbish our Mathematics building; work began in March and should be completed in autumn 2016. We are proud of our really impressive site which provides superb facilities for our young people. If you would like to find out more about us, please take a few moments to explore the rest of the website.
We held our annual Open Evening back in September and recorded our largest ever number of visitors with more than 370 families attending. Our Open Mornings and scheduled school tours have also been well attended and the feedback from prospective parents has been excellent.
If you are considering an 'in year' application, or have a child due to transfer from primary school in September 2016, then please take the time to explore our website and view our on-line prospectus and DVD as they provide an excellent introduction to our school community. If you would like to visit and tour the school during the day please give me a ring and we can arrange this for you. I am happy to meet you and take you on a tour to enable you to see our school in action. We have already had some tours for current Year 5 students hoping to enter into Year 7 for September 2017!
If you are a parent of a child currently in Year 6 you should have received confirmation of a Year 7 school place in March. If you wish to discuss any aspect of the admissions process, please do not hesitate to give me a ring at school.
