Dear Parents / Carers,
Welcome to our school website. At Aldworth we have high expectations of our students and this is reflected in their progress, aspirations and conduct around the school. In the summer examinations 60% of our Year 11 students achieved 5 or more A*-C GCSE grades including English and Maths in 2016. Having analysed all reports to parents during 2015-2016 we can confirm the vast majority of our students have been judged, by their subject teachers, as either having outstanding or good attitudes to learning.
Our school is a vibrant learning community with an ethos of ambition and achievement. We were judged as good in all categories by OFSTED in 2013 and you are welcome to view our OFSTED report, which is available on this website. We aim to prepare our students academically so they are ready to take the ‘next step’ into college. We also support each young person to enable him or her to develop personally in preparation for adult life.
The expectations we have for our young people are summed up in 3 short statements: RESPECT yourself and others, ENDEAVOUR to do your best and ACHIEVE your full potential. As a growing school we recognise each student as a unique individual and never lose sight of our values. If you would like to know more about our ethos please click here.
Aldworth is a successful school and we are a popular choice with parents. We have seen our number on roll grow from 500 to just under 1,000 in the last few years. We recently completed a £1.5 million external refurbishment programme on our largest building and secured a further £1 million to refurbish our Mathematics building; work began in March, was completed on 19th September (ahead of schedule!) and we hope to move back during the October half term. We are proud of our really impressive site which provides superb facilities for our young people and we are commited to investing in their futures. If you would like to find out more about us, please take a few moments to explore the rest of our website.
We held our annual Open Evening on Monday 19th September 2016 and Open Morning on Tuesday 27th September with record numbers of families visiting. If you have a child due to transfer into Year 7 in September 2017, please ensure you complete the on-line LA application before 31 October 2016. We have started our scheduled October school tours for prospective parents; please click on the banner at the top of the page to see the remaining dates. I look forward to meeting you then and providing you with an opportunity to find out more about us as and see the school in action. In the meantime I encourage you to view our on-line prospectus and DVD as they provide an excellent introduction to our school community.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of the admissions process, please do not hesitate to give me a ring at school.
