At the end of the Mayoral year, it is in the gift of the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane to recognise significant achievements by individuals and organisations for their contribution to our communities. During the current Mayoral year, both the Mayor and Mayoress having attended many events, observed that it is evident many young people have played a major role in engaging with their local communities.
Aldworth School was invited to nominate a student who makes a positive contribution to student life and without hesitation, Year 11 student, Saley was nominated to receive the Mayor’s Youth Award. The British Transport Police Cadet Unit nominated cadet leader, Alfie, another Year 11 student for his invaluable contribution to the unit.
The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane and Cllr Paul Miller invited both Alfie and Saley to attend a reception to receive their certificates and letters of recognition on Wednesday 10 May. The reception was held in The Mayor’s Parlour.
We are extremely proud of both Saley and Alfie. They are wonderful ambassadors of Aldworth.
